Stretch Your Lower Back Muscles
If you suffer from low back pain and are looking to stretch your lower back muscles for relief you should read this first. If you find your back hurts the most when you sit for long periods of time or gets sore after bending forward for long periods of time doing an activity like gardening you probably don’t want to stretch your lower back muscles. You want to stretch the muscles in your hips that attach to your spine and do passive mobility exercises to help promote movement within your spine and allow the disc bulge to be ‘sucked back in to your intervertebral space. This is much more likely to help. Of course doing these stretches for your lower back muscles will only offer temporary relief if you don’t change what is causing the low back pain in the first place. If you know sitting for long periods of time hurt your back you should look at different chairs or sit stand workstations to make your space more comfortable so you don’t have to be doing the stretches for your lower back pain all the time.
If you have an acute low back injury from lifting our ‘I Hurt My Back Lifting Something Heavy’ program is probably a better fit for. Get it by registering on our app here or clicking the image below.
