How to Make Homemade Healthier Nutella

Written by Jonathan

A lot of people find Nutella to be a delicious chocolatey snack, unfortunately it is not as healthy as it’s marketed to be and really is a great example of health washing at its best. The first ingredient is sugar and the second ingredient is vegetable oil, but you don’t see that advertised on the commercials! In fact my best guess based on the label and using the indirect reasoning skills my grade 6 teacher gave me (thanks Mrs. Goodfellow) the whole product is approximately 50% sugar and 20% fat, yikes! Now this version of homemade Nutella will be healthier and have more overall nutritional value in it than the store purchased version, however that doesn’t mean you can go buck wild on it and eat as much as you want, it’s still relatively high in calories so please enjoy it responsibly, the same way as you would a healthy beer.
